Catalytic performance of desilicated HZSM-12 for benzylation reaction of benzene with benzyl alcohol

The catalytic production of diphenylmethane from the reaction benzene with benzyl alcohol was investigated using HZSM-12 and desilicated that obtained by treating ZSM-12 0.2M NaOH solution at 85?C for 60 min. untreated alkaline treated zeolites were characterized X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms, scanning electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, temperature-programmed desorption ammonia. showed promising performance conversion 100 %, selectivity to 74 % (in 4 h time), 87 8 time). parameters affecting product distribution also presented. activities fresh regenerated catalysts compared characterization results indicated occluded organic molecules decreased number acidic sites catalyst after regeneration.
